Recruiting Operations Lead

Marcelo has been flexible, has helped out with everything from recruiting internal team members, to running operations for recruiting projects, to managing our LatAm Engineering recruiting for one of our clients. He is driven by doing the right thing for RP, first things FIRST!

What made you want to join RocketPower?

I was impacted by Covid-19 last year. I was working at Pierpoint and was in between projects when Federico (thank you Fede!) gave me a call and talked about an opportunity to join RocketPower. In all honesty I knew nothing about RP prior to Fede mentioning it, however, I fell in love with RP the minute I started learning from the company.

Briefly describe your role here at RocketPower…

I’m responsible for managing & mentoring a team of 16 amazing professionals. Including Recruiters, Sourcers and Operations Specialists. I’m also responsible for onboarding new employees and account management. I see myself as someone who looks after the team and who makes sure everyone on the team has everything they need to be successful.

What core value do you resonate with most? (SOFE - Seek to Understand, Ownership Mentality, First Things First, Everybody Wins)

Definitely resonate with First things first. When I first joined the Color team, the first thing I did was to speak with everyone on the team to understand which areas needed improvement and which areas were working well. I describe myself as a “problem solver”. Whenever there’s something that’s not working right, I immediately try to determine what’s causing the problem and fix it as soon as possible.

When I think of “First things first”, I always think of doing our very best to make sure we’re giving exceptional service to our clients because clients come first.

What is your favorite thing about working at RocketPower?

I worked for Pierpoint International for 8 and ½ years prior to joining RocketPower and the first thing that caught my attention was the people. Amazing human beings, amazing professionals behind a common goal. “To Be THE best talent solutions provider." I had the pleasure of meeting Lazaro, Tommy, Jeff, Brett and Mat prior to joining the company. It was easy for me to say yes to such an amazing opportunity with such an amazing company.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work/your interests or hobbies/anything you’d like to highlight about yourself?

I love being outdoors with my family. I play the drums at an evangelical church. Whenever there’s an opportunity to travel with my family, we go for it. I’m a people person and love to be surrounded by family and friends. They say there’s two types of people, those who love going to the beach and those who love going to the mountains. I’m a mountain lover for sure :)

What is a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know?

I do audio and video editing in my spare time. I’m self taught. I had to learn how to edit videos and how to edit audio as we started shooting videos at church and at the time, no one knew how to do it. I went online, did some research and started following tutorials and eventually learned it. It took me a good 6-7 months to sort of “master it”. Thankfully all this knowledge came very handy when Covid hit us all, last year. All services were online/virtual and I got the opportunity to put all these skills to good use. I keep learning new video and audio editing techniques every day.

For those who don’t know, I was born and raised in Australia but I gotta say, I don’t like Vegemite! (most Australians love it!)
