RocketPower Spotlight - Jennifer Tran

Recruiting Operations Manager

Jenn has stepped up in several areas. She helped launch our Lever, has been working on Instacart, United Masters, GEM and the R4R Pipeline. She has taken it on herself to ensure we have accurate data, are giving our clients high level support, and providing our team members the platform to be successful.

What made you want to join RocketPower?

I was one of the many impacted by Covid-19 in 2020. I was lucky enough to take most of the year off to recharge and reset. When I started my job search, Saki (shoutout to Saki) reached out to me asking if I would be interested in an Ops opportunity. What started off as a contract engagement turned into a home.

Briefly describe your role here at RocketPower…

My current role is split client facing operations and internal recruiting operations. The easiest way to describe my role is that I work to make recruiting easier (automated), faster (efficient), and scalable (effective) for our teams and clients while keeping candidate experience top of mind. You can find me involved in anything related to implementation, execution and maintenance of recruiting tools, programs and processes.

What core value do you resonate with most? (SOFE - Seek to Understand, Ownership Mentality, First Things First, Everybody Wins)

I definitely resonate with “Everybody wins”. Operational changes and improvements can sometimes have significant downstream impact and I’m always thinking about how to make various stakeholders and partners more successful.

What is your favorite thing about working at RocketPower?

There are two things I really enjoy about RocketPower - the amount of support given leadership level and the hectic environment (and when I say hectic, I mean it in the best possible way). We are constantly solving new problems which makes every day different, dynamic and fun.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work/your interests or hobbies/anything you’d like to highlight about yourself?

Over quarantine, my housemates and some friends started a DJ collective (Headphone World Collective, if you want to follow!) focused on giving back to our local communities and social justice initiatives. We’ve held various virtual music events and raised money for different foundations - Equal Justice Initiative, #StandforAsians, Bay Area Crisis Nursery, Wildfire Relief to name a few. For us, it’s about improving our craft and improving our communities.

What is a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know?

I have close to or more than 100 pairs of sneakers in my closet. I’ve been collecting shoes since the early 2000’s. My best friend introduced me to my first pair of Jordans and I haven’t turned back since. For the most part I’m checks over stripes (with a couple pairs of New Balances), but I never discriminate against a great sneaker.
