About the role

The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing all engineering and technical aspects of a project during the product development cycle. The Project Engineer will schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the activities of a project while providing design assistance, services and support to our Sales Team allowing them to grow business with new and existing customers. This includes assuring project accuracy, effective communication with internal and external customers, advanced product quality planning, and conformance to customer requirements from conception to production.
1.     Serves as a positive role model consistent with Polo’s corporate culture at all times.
2.     Works closely with all internal departments in all locations to proactively and efficiently drive projects through all stages of design, development, and manufacturing, with guidance from the Director of Sales & Marketing and the Product Development Manager as well as support and input from Polo’s Division Managers and Product Development Designers.
3. Interfaces with people of all responsibility levels in our customer's organizations and serves as their liaison throughout the life of assigned projects.
4.     Keeps abreast of the trend of technology; investigates and installs the most effective methods of manufacturing to keep the company at a competitive edge at times.
5.     Proactively communicates project scope and status or other relevant details to appropriate parties as needed. Ensures that all deadlines are met and communicated properly to all parties involved.
6.     WorkscooperativelywithPolo’smanufacturer’srepresentativesasneededtounderstandthecustomersdesign requirements and expectations.
7.     Travels overnight to Polo sites, manufacturing partners, customers, and vendors as needed.
8.     Gains a complete understanding of the manufacturing processes within all Polo facilities as well as a thorough understanding of the manufacturing process of Polo’s vast supply chain
9.     Insure consistency is being meta across all division systems of processes, communication styles, and goals.
10. Analyzes various design requirements and recommend possible solutions or alternatives. constructions. Investigates and finds solutions to problems.
11. Works with production, product development, and quality to ensure DFM, DFA, and APQP principles are integrated into all new products early in the design and development phase.
12. Coordinates with production and product development personnel regarding ideas, drawings, and products as well as external contact with customers and vendors in the development of designs to resolve problems and find solutions.
13. Creates and maintains organized project files and thorough design notes within the project folders. Creates and maintains appropriate workbooks and task assignments.
14. Maintains current open project report and leads a weekly project meeting to keep all parties up to date.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Not essential & could be performed by others, if necessary)
1. Other duties as assigned.
2. Works with Division Manager and Customer Account Specialist in the transition from project to production once an order is placed by the customer.
3. Assists in sales presentations, supplier visits, and product design meetings.
4. Ensures that internal and external customers’ needs are always met by providing customer service and design assistance.
5. Works and trains in other areas & departments as needed.
6. Ability to flex schedule when required to meet customer deadlines and business needs

To perform at a proficient level and to be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical degree, or equivalent work experience. Project management experience is preferred and would be (minimum required)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (minimum required):
1. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word/Windows, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge and experience with ERP systems, understanding basic proficiency in creating models/assemblies using Parametric Solid Modeling software such as Creo or SolidWorks, desired.
2. Communicates with customers and colleagues in a courteous and professional manner with excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills
3. Reads and understand blueprints, drawings, and other specification documents for products requiring our involvement.

5. Must be familiar with a variety of manufacturing processes, material selection, and product testing in addition to sketching, layout, and drafting work.
6. Provides functional guidance for administrative support and needs.

Physical Requirements:
1. Able to sit 50% of the time while conducting stationary work on computer workstations including mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
2. Frequently communicates via phone, e-mail, or in-person to internal and external customers.
3. Frequently moves about the facility.
4. Able to travel independently to any location requested.
5. Able to work in a manufacturing environment with basic hand and power tools.
6. Able to prepare presentations, prototypes, and models.

Work Environment:
1. Usually in a typical office environment; when in a plant environment, could be exposed to noise, fumes, and variation in temperature.
